The San Diego Zoo is everything you've heard and more. This is
a world-class zoo, more an environment (or many environments
really), and combined with its North County sister, The Wild Animal
Park, you can really experience the Virtual World because every
geographical environment is replicated in both flora and fauna.
Walking through the rain forest is my special delight. The San Diego
Zoo is a San Diego treasure. I love the Hippo pool and Tiger Canyon,
and of course the gorillas and orangatangs. I get as much of a kick
out of watching people watch the monkeys as I do watching the
monkeys. People are fascinated by the play and behavior of our
cousins. Seeing the Zoo is an all day affair and you should try to
go on a cool day and early just before they open.
If you must go on a hot day, wear a hat and plenty of sunscreen.
Take it easy as there are many hills and steps to climb and the zoo
goes on for miles. Drink lots of water and rest frequently. If you
can't handle strenuous physical activity, buy the bus tour -- it's
worth every penny. Food is pricey here. Be prepared to spend about
$30-50US per person for the day, not counting souvenirs. If you have
the time (2 days) and a car to drive north about 40 miles to The
Wild Animal Park, the best bet is to buy a 2 park ticket when you
purchase your admission.

to each person that walks into your reception area as if
they are the most important person you have met that day.
And offer a warm goodbye as they leave.
Dress in professional attire. As the receptionist, your
appearance reflects upon your employer. You don't have to
wear designer outfits; simply wear fresh, clean, pressed
clothing.
Answer the phone with a smile. This might sound silly, but
try it and you will see that people can actually hear the
smile in your voice and will respond to you in kind. A
bonus: the more you smile, the happier you will actually
feel.
Be gracious. You will probably encounter people who are
impatient, curt, and downright rude to you. Consider the
fact that they might be nervous about their appointment at
your office or dealing with some tragic matter in their
personal life. Treat each one with kindness, whether they
deserve it or not. Many of them will be humbled by your
generous spirit, and you might make someone's awful day a
little bit better.
Listen.
Whether the person on the phone or
at your counter is a client or
customer, let them fully explain to
you the purpose of their call. This
will help you properly and correctly
direct them, making the interaction
